Introduction:

Welcome to English Teaching Skills! I’m Qureshi, a passionate English educator dedicated to helping teachers and learners succeed through effective, research-based strategies.

Background & Qualifications:

My journey through a BA and MA in English Language and Literature has inspired me to contribute meaningfully to the field of English teaching and language learning. My in-depth studies across multiple branches of linguistics—including Old and Modern English, World Englishes, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, stylistics, discourse analysis, and the art of rhetoric and prosody—equip me with both theoretical expertise and practical tools for effective instruction. Additionally, my engagement with literary history, literary criticism, and the history of Western ideas and philosophy enriches my approach to teaching English, helping students develop critical thinking and a deeper appreciation of language.

Teaching Philosophy:

I believe teaching is a continuous learning process, since reaching the level of absoluteness in any knowledge is impossible, which means the ultimate walk from birth to death is a full-time studentship. Then, what is teaching? – To me, teaching is a dynamic transfer of knowledge, e.g., from the more knowledgeable (teachers) to the less knowledgeable (learners). Hence, the more teachers commit to their own ongoing learning, the better they can enlighten and empower their students.

In English language education, I strongly advocate for learner-centred and culturally responsive pedagogy, grounded in proven methodologies. Since every learner comes with unique strengths, backgrounds, and needs, by recognising and accommodating these differences, teachers can create engaging, inclusive classrooms where every student feels a sense of belonging and tries their best to thrive.
